I’m Ahead of Schedule

Standard

I said yesterday that I was going to wait until next week on Wednesday to buy all these things on Amazon, WriteItNow 4 and some books to help me to learn to write fiction. Well, change of plans…

Today the $20 transfer went through to my PayPal account and I had $52.84 and I decided to buy the digital download of the WriteItNow software, which basically saved me $10. I already had the demo installed, so what I got from buying it was a code to unlock the software. It was $59.95 and I paid with PayPal which means it took $7 and change from my checking account.

One of the books I was going to buy was the book that was supposed to teach me how to use the software. I changed my mind because $15 is a bit much to learn to use something that is pretty much self explanatory. The other book I found on the Nook store and that was $10. I was also going to buy, but changed my mind, a D&D starter kit for $15. So let’s tally it all up shall we? I saved $10 on the software and nixed 2 things that were $15 each, that’s $30 plus the savings is $40. I was going to buy one book that will teach me how to write for $10 and that book is in a series of 5 ebooks. So that $40 plus $10 will go towards this series of ebooks.

Confused yet?

I am still reading “Writing Fiction For Dummies” and I have to say, that it is actually helping me, but I’m sure the other books will teach me more. According to a writer friend Marguerite Labbe, these books are very good, and she has in fact read them and told me they have exercises for me. She highly recommends them and that is good enough for me. I have read quite a few of her books and they are good, so that gives me a lot of hope for my future as a writer.

I am super excited! Things are progressing faster than I could have ever imagined.

Now that the software has been unlocked, I have started working on protaganists, antagonists, major characters, minor characters and extras. I have the names of group members, names of guilds, teams and places. I have at least 10 names of each sex of each race, including the good and bad. There will be trolls, orcs, pirates, vampires, centaurs, gnomes, elves, you name it and my book will have it.

I’m sure it will take me a very long time to write considering I still have to learn how to write fiction. I feel that once I have read all 5 of those books, I will be well prepared to dig right in to the world I am creating. I don’t expect it to be great, I don’t even expect it to have a huge audience. In fact, I’m pretty sure it will only have a few readers, but you have to start from somewhere. At least I’m starting.

Oh and I don’t want to spoil anything, but just for those who are wondering what it is going to be about, it will be similar to a Lord of the Rings world, but the story will be much different. There will be characters from the LGBT community, although in my book it will be a normal thing and there won’t be anyone fighting against it. There will even be some transgender folk and it will be a normal thing. All I can say is if you can’t deal with that, don’t read it.
