Want to read my new book “Diary of a Gay Nerd: Life After Child Abuse, It Gets Better!” but don’t have a Nook or a Kindle but have an Android phone?  Not to worry, that is why I published my book with RainboweBooks.com.

You actually don’t have to have a Kindle to be able to buy Amazon ebooks, or a Nook to buy Barnes & Noble ebooks.  You can download the app for your phone and create an account and start buying ebooks.  That way if you decide later that you want to buy a Nook or a Kindle, you already have an account and books in your library.  But if that is not what you want then you can also use Aldiko Book Reader from the Android market.

What you do is simply download the Aldiko app from the Android market and install it.  There is a free app and a professional app, I don’t know which one is better but just try the free one and if you like it then you can decide if you want to buy the pro version.  Now go to RainboweBooks.com on your computer or on your phone and buy my book.

There are 2 methods of adding the file to your phone.  You can either download the file onto your computer and then upload it to your phone via your USB cable (instructions have pictures), or you can download it directly on your phone from the RainboweBooks website.  I would personally rather download the epub file on the phone than have to go through that extra step of having to connect the phone to the computer, but that is your choice.  If you don’t have a computer then it isn’t even an option.

If you do choose to download it on your phone remember you have to have an SD card installed.  Just click the epub file link after you have bought my book and a menu will pop up with the Aldiko icon, just click it and it will download it and you will find my book in your bookshelf.  It’s really that easy.

Here are full instructions on the Aldiko website.

So there are your simple instructions.  I hope you enjoy my book on your android phone.

Update: If you are having issues with these instructions, read one of the comments which is this:

“Once the files you want to import onto Aldiko are on the sd card, tap the SD card icon from the home sercen. Choose your books and tap Import to Aldiko.” – Midhilaj
