National Coming Out Day

Today is national coming out day and although I have already come out, I wanted to share my coming out story.

I knew I was gay when I was very young. When I learned to walk, I somehow decided that I wanted to walk on my tippy toes. I was capable of walking on my heels, I just didn’t want to and so as a result my step-father started calling me a sissy, which was a nice way to call a toddler a fag. He had the doctor put braces on my legs and I was forced to wear combat boots to keep me from walking on my toes.

When I was 12, he would see news stories about the gay and lesbian protesters who were seeking equality in the early 80’s and would tell me that all the fags should be put on an island and shot. I heard that a few times. There were many suicide attempts because I was so terrified of what would happen if my parents found out that I was gay and because I was being beat up in school because the other kids thought I was gay.

When I was 15 I met my first boyfriend and my family had to leave where we were living and I gave him my PO Box address to keep in contact with me, but I didn’t know that my parents were reading the letters and throwing them in the trash. I was homeless when I was 15. They were forced to take me back in about 6 months later. 2 months after my 17th birthday I was homeless again after my mother confronted me about the letters that they had been reading every week for 2 years.

Since then I have had such a hard time telling people that I was gay, even co-workers because when I finally did tell them, they would turn on me. One minute we were the best of friends, the next minute they couldn’t even look me in the eye because they were so disgusted by me. Now I don’t wait for a long time before telling people I am gay because if I tell them right away, then I don’t have to waste any time and I don’t get my heart broken when they reject me. Maybe that’s why I don’t have very many friends, because I’m afraid of being rejected.

I have always said that I am not looking for acceptance, but we all know that’s a big fat lie, especially when it is a family member or a close friend. I don’t seek acceptance from strangers though, so that is why it is easier to come out to strangers. Anyway, that’s my coming out story.

I know this has nothing to do with my book, but what else is my book about but equality, am I right? The Westborough Baptist Church is going a bit overboard don’t you think? Check this out.

I am not a violent person by any means, especially towards women, but I just want to smack the shit out of these women. Really? God H8S JEWS? Honey, God sent his only son to be born a JEW, so why would he hate them? His son WAS a Jew! I mean seriously, get a clue people.

These idiots are the new KKK generation, but instead of hiding their faces with white pointy masks, they are showing their faces everywhere and not letting anyone forget who they are. They are showing up at the most unlikely places with signs saying god hates fags and god hates jews and god hates peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Ok so that last part wasn’t true, but who knows, maybe they think he does.

You know what God hates? He hates bigotry! That’s what he hates. If there is a God, he doesn’t want people fighting among themselves, he wants them to get along and to be peaceful because God is loving… that is if he exists. I’m not saying he does and I’m not saying he doesn’t, all I’m saying is that if there was a God, he wouldn’t want these morons corrupting his creation like this.

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside

I believe that Whitney Houston had the right answer. The children are the future, teach them well. Well, these idiots with signs are teaching the children the polar opposite of what they need to learn. If those children are our future and they are taught lies and hatred, then god help us all.

Hey I just thought of something, this is a child welfare case, yes? These idiots are corrupting children and who knows if they might even be beating them as well. Their children are not being raised properly and need to be taken away and put into foster homes where they will have loving mothers and loving fathers to take care of them and teach them real values that they need to know like how to NOT hate people.

Meanwhile, let’s just commit these hate mongers because it is obvious to me that they cannot be productive in society. They are the reason bullies are forcing gay children to kill themselves. It all starts with Westborough Baptist Church. Raid their church members, take the children and put them in the system and put the parents and any adult who cannot function properly and that will solve the problem. They are the true terrorists. We got Saddam and we got Bin Laden, now it’s time to get the Westborough Baptist Church. If you think I’m being harsh and overly dramatic, then take a look at this video. That’ll change your mind.

March PFLAG Meeting

PFLAG has their meetings once a month and I was asked to drop by for their March 2012 meeting to hand out business cards and to let people know where they can buy my book “Diary of a Gay Nerd: Life After Child Abuse, It Gets Better.” It will be a powerful meeting because they also have Autumn Sandeem.
